Statement

Barbara Smithson has always had a passionate interest in art but did not begin taking art classes nor start to paint seriously until 2004.  She enjoys plein air watercolor painting and using pen/ink and watercolor to make travel sketches.  Her painting style tends toward impressionism, with her work exhibiting both energy and warmth.  She often uses minimalist techniques to suggest depth and detail through subtle color changes and controlled lines.
